Green

Actually, I think it is a metaphor used to illustrate that a "green" future, a future in which we all live in harmony with the nature-goddess (mother earth), is worth the risk that it takes to get there.

And I was just going to tell that story to your younger brothers!

They think it's a story of heroes--Matt and Ben, who use their cunning rather than physical violence to escape a potentially deadly situation--and Peter, who bravely defends his entire family at the risk of his own life, because he is the biggest, baddest billy-goat brother of them all.

I suppose you'll tell me the troll himself has some redeeming qualities that make him an anti-hero worthy of our empathy.

How could the woman who raised you have been so blind?

The troll is obviously rugged individualism personified, which "the Man" wants to put down at all cost, even to the point of knocking him off a bridge.
